This article features in a News Brief from Audio Wikinews:

Legendary Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan has confirmed that his son Abhishek and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai were engaged last evening at a private ceremony at the Bachchans’ residence in Mumbai.

It is believed that the younger Bachchan proposed to his bride-to-be in New York, soon after the Toronto premiere of his new movie Guru. The media had been following the romance between the two closely for some time past, but this is the first time they have come out in the open about their relationship. Rumours that the couple were planning to spread the know began to spread in November last year, when they visited the Sankat Mochan Temple together, with some even saying that they had already been married even earlier at the Meenakshi temple in Madurai

According to one daily, the wedding will take place either on February 19 or March 7 at the Hyatt Mumbai. “The children have decided. We are very happy and thought we should go ahead with the ‘roka’ ceremony. It was held in the evening.”, Amitabh Bachchan said of the ceremony, which was attended by the family’s close friends, including Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, Aishwarya’s parents, and industrialist Anil Ambani and the latter’s wife Tina Ambani. The couple have now flown to Ujjain to take a holy dip in the Ganga.

Controversial medical center demolished in Buffalo, New York

Saturday, May 26, 2007

A medical center, once the site of intense controversy over abortion in the 1990s, which has been vacant for nearly 10 years, was imploded in Buffalo, New York at 6:00 a.m. [eastern time] today.

Several streets in about a 2 block radius were shut down until the implosion occurred and the dust settled. At least 200 people watched in nearby parking lots and on rooftops of buildings to get a good look at the implosion.

The ground and the walls of buildings shook as the dynamite detonated and a brief shock wave could be felt as far as 1 1/2 blocks away. Witnesses even reported small pieces of bricks and concrete falling out of some buildings, but no one was injured.

The building, owned by Kaleida Health, once housed several medical offices, including an abortion clinic. Hundreds of people protested about the abortions outside the center during the Spring of Life Movement in 1992, but other medical procedures and treatments were also part of the center’s services. It was built in 1965 and was 14 floors tall.

Kaleida Health had the building imploded so that the current Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus can be expanded. Several other major medical facilities are also in the same area including Roswell Cancer Institute and Buffalo General Hospital.

“This implosion of 50 High Street will continue the explosion of growth on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. This event will ensure future opportunity for investment, development and growth,” said the CEO and President of Kaleida Health in a statement on Thursday.

Toothpaste fills cavities without drilling

Thursday, February 24, 2005

A paste containing synthetic tooth enamel can seal small cavities without drilling. Kazue Yamagishi and colleagues at the FAP Dental Institute in Tokyo say that the paste can repair small cavities in 15 minutes.

Currently, fillers don’t stick to such small cavities so dentists must drill bigger holes. Hydroxyapatite crystals, of which natural enamel is made, bond with teeth to repair tiny areas of damage.

Yamagishi and colleagues have tested their paste on a lower premolar tooth that showed early signs of decay. They found that the synthetic enamel merged with the natural enamel. The synthetic enamel also appears to make teeth stronger which will improve resistance to future decay. As with drilling, however, there is still the potential for pain: The paste is strongly acidic to encourage crystal growth and causes inflammation if it touches the gums.

The paste is reported in the journal Nature.

Body Contouring With Tummy Tuck Abdominoplasty

Dr. Sandesh Gupta

Body contouring or Abdominoplasty refers to a cosmetic procedure that is used to remove excess fat from the abdomen area of the body. It is a procedure that can be performed with exceptional finesse by the expert, who is also considered to be the best dermatologist in Delhi. Tummy-tuck Abdominoplasty surgeries are conducted on thousands of women each year with great results on their health and appearance. Abdominoplasty nullifies the risk of stretch marks and weight loss scars that can be left be other weight loss processes and by getting rid of abdominal fat through exercise regimes. If the person is very overweight, then tummy tuck or Abdominoplasty conducted by the dermatologists is the best option. Generally, weight loss processes, most often than not, leave behind scars and stretch marks, but a cosmetic body contouring with tummy tuck procedure or Abdominoplasty done by someone can solve this issue without the risk of any stretch marks or scars, as the doctors working here are believed to be the best ones in Delhi.

Fat Is Not Ugly, But Unhealthy!

Body contouring with tummy tuck, dermatologist in DelhiIt is a fact well known that modern society thinks that a slim, slender body is the epitome of beauty. However, one should not conform to this notion of beauty blindly. Beauty is measured not by your body shape, but by your overall physical and mental health which can be accepted in all shapes and sizes. So if one wants to undergo a body contouring with tummy tuck or Abdominoplasty procedure by a dermatologist in Delhi, it should be for the sake of obtaining a healthy weight and healthy body, and not just simply for the sake of conforming to society’s notions on how a beautiful person looks. Therefore, one should be careful to consider the process in detail beforehand.

Should One Go Ahead with Abdominoplasty or Not?

Body contouring with tummy tuck, dermatologist in Delhi, good dermatologist in DelhiPsychological reasons aside, if conducted by a good dermatologist in Delhi like Dr Sandesh, Abdominoplasty is a safe and sound procedure that can remove excess fat from the abdominal regions without the risk of any sort of scarring or anything of the sort. But one should also remember to consider the psychological reasons behind it. If one is feeling the need to undergo Abdominoplasty because of societal pressure or norms on beauty, then one should consult a counselor first for his advice on how to deal with the issue. Only after dealing with the underlying psychological issues, should one consider undergoing this surgery. Because if the underlying psychological issues are left unaddressed, then the surgery can have no effect on the confidence of the person and can lead to further psychological deterioration. Therefore, it is a must to consider this cosmetic fat removal procedure only due to health benefits or for aesthetic purposes completely unaffected by what society thinks is beautiful in people. The choice must rest solely on the person who wants to undergo the procedure; there should be no psychological or emotional strain or pressure behind the decision to get this surgery done.

Fiat plans to buy majority stake in Chrysler

Sunday, May 29, 2011

Fiat announced on Friday that it intends to purchase the six percent of automaker Chrysler that the US government currently owns, which would give the Italian company a 52 percent majority stake in Chrysler.

According to Fiat’s announcement, the company has told the US Treasury that it intends to use its option to buy the share in Chrysler held by the US government, a deal that will be finalized by June 10. If a price is not agreed on by that time, Fiat will pay the average of the estimates of two investment banks.

In 2009, Fiat bought a twenty percent stake in Chrysler, which had just exited bankruptcy, and has since increased its holding to 46 percent, expected to increase to 57% by the end of this year.

According to analyst Maryann Keller, the deal is a good one for both companies, as “[n]either one has the ability to compete alone in the kind of global environment that they face.” Analyst Rebecca Lindland said that the move will also benefit the companies by getting “them out from underneath any hint of government ownership and any of that negativity that went along with the bailout.”
