Home Cooked Meal For The Entire Family

Submitted by: Mary Lorainne

In this current busy world of ours, the time to eat would probably be the time when the whole family could gather round, partake in the food and spend some quality time talking about how their day was. For any mother for that matter, preparing a meal for the family would probably be one of the most satisfying feelings that you get especially if your family enjoys your cooking. But the busy schedule of mothers who have their own careers doesn t give them the luxury of time to prepare and cook meals once they get home tired from work. Majority of them either order takeouts or have food delivered to the home. I strongly believe that a mother should at least even once or twice a month engage in cooking for a day or two for her family despite the busy schedule.

Choose recipes that you think you could well handle or prepare. Select those with ingredients that you are quite sure that your family would love and eat. It would also help the budget conscious to choose dishes requiring ingredients that you more or less have in your refrigerator or pantry to avoid purchasing a lot of ingredients. I know that there would certainly be some ingredients that you couldn t find in your kitchen but at least you would be buying only a few more items and you spend lesser time shopping for them. Take advantage also of items on sale. You could always concentrate your dishes for those ingredients that are currently being sold on sale for promotion. Kindly check your newspaper for sales being offered.

This is the best time for you to practice and put your cooking skills to work. To facilitate, prepare all the necessary ingredients that you will be using. If you will need the aid of a cookbook, I suggest that you write the recipe somewhere else to prevent from staining the book with spillage. Cook those recipes that require longer cooking time first, with the dishes requiring shorter cooking time last. I would even suggest that if you have other family members who would want to learn or basically love to cook, ask them to join and help you. They not only learn to prepare and cook new dishes, you get to bond as well.

As they say food nourishes not only the body but also the soul. Spend time to cook for your family.

Battling Myths Of Payday Loans, Credit Scores, And Debt Solutions

Battling Myths of Payday Loans, Credit Scores, and Debt Solutions

by

Holly Petherbridge

A low cost payday loan is a cost effective way to get your hands on fast money. The low cost of payday loans flies out the window when you extend the loan past the original pay date. The loan may still be helpful, especially if it kept your payments going out on time. Having a plan for your money and following through is one of the best ways to come out of an online payday loan clean and unscathed.

There are some people who think that their credit is pretty high until they pull their report. There is a high percentage of errors which are found on credit reports. If your score is lower than expected, comb through the information looking for mistakes. Human error is easily corrected and when it means a higher score and lower interest payments on your credit, it definitely is a job worth accomplishing.

Some people are leery to check their score thinking it will hurt the overall numbers. Checking it yourself is generally a non-affecting action. it takes hard inquiries from potential creditors to lower your score. You will need to check all three credit reports. Each company works their own reporting meaning you may have errors in any of the three so checking one will only solve one problem not three.

The credit bureaus want you to check your credit. They created annualcreditreport.com so anyone can have access to a free credit report every three months in order to keep tabs on what is being reported. There are many other websites which have tried to emulate this free version by offering a free report from only one of the three bureaus. Others will make you sign up for a low cost look but will keep charging each month unless you remember to cancel the service.

Debt in collections gets sold between collectors. An old debt, which morally would make sense to pay, could possibly be past your states statute of limitations. Making one payment could restart the clock for the debt giving the lender another opportunity to take you to court. If the debt is older than 7 years, it should not even be on your credit report at all and you should forget about trying to pay it. Focus on maintaining your present finances.

Opt for a credit counselor who can help refocus your budget to make your income work for you rather than debt settlement or the last resort bankruptcy option. Choosing an option which will make your credit score suffer more may not be in the best interest of your future finances. Whatever damaging reports the creditors will report is to remain for seven years. Debt settlement programs make take a few years to collect enough money to negotiate the settlement. Once the settlement is made and the creditor is paid, the report will reflect \”settled payment\” which is still a negative. Your bad credit could continue for another 9 years or more by using a debt settlement company. As bad as bankruptcy is, it could potentially be over faster than debt settlement. Having a second chance at your credit is a great thing. The key here is to learn from your mistakes so your fresh start is built on solid financial ground.

Maintaining high balances or closing credit cards will also lower your score. A credit report wants to see you manage your debt. Do your best to maintain less than 30% of the available balance and rotate the cards to keep them active. You have to prove to potential creditors that you have the money skills to be a good business decision.

Opting for a payday loan to help with debt is not a good decision. These loans expect a payoff which includes the fees in just a few weeks. Usually people who are already carrying a large pile of debt will struggle to pay off the direct payday loan on time. Use online payday loans sparingly and have a payoff plan before signing for the loan. Too many of these loans out eat away at your income. Keep them a low cost option by using them sparingly. The high interest attached to these loans can do too much damage to a struggling budget when not paid off on time.

Israel Journal: Is Yossi Vardi a good father to his entrepreneurial children?

Thursday, December 20, 2007

Wikinews reporter David Shankbone is currently, courtesy of the Israeli government and friends, visiting Israel. This is a first-hand account of his experiences and may — as a result — not fully comply with Wikinews’ neutrality policy. Please note this is a journalism experiment for Wikinews and put constructive criticism on the collaboration page.

This article mentions the Wikimedia Foundation, one of its projects, or people related to it. Wikinews is a project of the Wikimedia Foundation.

Dr. Yossi Vardi is known as Israel’s ‘Father of the Entrepreneur’, and he has many children in the form of technology companies he has helped to incubate in Tel Aviv‘s booming Internet sector. At the offices of Superna, one such company, he introduced a whirlwind of presentations from his baby incubators to a group of journalists. What stuck most in my head was when Vardi said, “What is important is not the technology, but the talent.” Perhaps because he repeated this after each young Internet entrepreneur showed us his or her latest creation under Vardi’s tutelage. I had a sense of déjà vu from this mantra. A casual reader of the newspapers during the Dot.com boom will remember a glut of stories that could be called “The Rise of the Failure”; people whose technology companies had collapsed were suddenly hot commodities to start up new companies. This seemingly paradoxical thinking was talked about as new back then; but even Thomas Edison—the Father of Invention—is oft-quoted for saying, “I have not failed. I have just found ten thousand ways that won’t work.”

Vardi’s focus on encouraging his brood of talent regardless of the practicalities stuck out to me because of a recent pair of “dueling studies” The New York Times has printed. These are the sort of studies that confuse parents on how to raise their kids. The first, by Carol Dweck at Stanford University, came to the conclusion that children who are not praised for their efforts, regardless of the outcome’s success, rarely attempt more challenging and complex pursuits. According to Dweck’s study, when a child knows that they will receive praise for being right instead of for tackling difficult problems, even if they fail, they will simply elect to take on easy tasks in which they are assured of finding the solution.

Only one month earlier the Times produced another story for parents to agonize over, this time based on a study from the Brookings Institution, entitled “Are Kids Getting Too Much Praise?” Unlike Dweck’s clinical study, Brookings drew conclusions from statistical data that could be influenced by a variety of factors (since there was no clinical control). The study found American kids are far more confident that they have done well than their Korean counterparts, even when the inverse is true. The Times adds in the words of a Harvard faculty psychologist who intoned, “Self-esteem is based on real accomplishments. It’s all about letting kids shine in a realistic way.” But this is not the first time the self-esteem generation’s proponents have been criticized.

Vardi clearly would find himself encouraged by Dweck’s study, though, based upon how often he seemed to ask us to keep our eyes on the people more than the products. That’s not to say he has not found his latest ICQ, though only time—and consumers—will tell.

For a Web 2.User like myself, I was most fascinated by Fixya, a site that, like Wikipedia, exists on the free work of people with knowledge. Fixya is a tech support site where people who are having problems with equipment ask a question and it is answered by registered “experts.” These experts are the equivalent of Wikipedia’s editors: they are self-ordained purveyors of solutions. But instead of solving a mystery of knowledge a reader has in their head, these experts solve a problem related to something you have bought and do not understand. From baby cribs to cellular phones, over 500,000 products are “supported” on Fixya’s website. The Fixya business model relies upon the good will of its experts to want to help other people through the ever-expanding world of consumer appliances. But it is different from Wikipedia in two important ways. First, Fixya is for-profit. The altruistic exchange of information is somewhat dampened by the knowledge that somebody, somewhere, is profiting from whatever you give. Second, with Wikipedia it is very easy for a person to type in a few sentences about a subject on an article about the Toshiba Satellite laptop, but to answer technical problems a person is experiencing seems like a different realm. But is it? “It’s a beautiful thing. People really want to help other people,” said the presenter, who marveled at the community that has already developed on Fixya. “Another difference from Wikipedia is that we have a premium content version of the site.” Their premium site is where they envision making their money. Customers with a problem will assign a dollar amount based upon how badly they need an answer to a question, and the expert-editors of Fixya will share in the payment for the resolved issue. Like Wikipedia, reputation is paramount to Fixya’s experts. Whereas Wikipedia editors are judged by how they are perceived in the Wiki community, the amount of barnstars they receive and by the value of their contributions, Fixya’s customers rate its experts based upon the usefulness of their advice. The site is currently working on offering extended warranties with some manufacturers, although it was not clear how that would work on a site that functioned on the work of any expert.

Another collaborative effort product presented to us was YouFig, which is software designed to allow a group of people to collaborate on work product. This is not a new idea, although may web-based products have generally fallen flat. The idea is that people who are working on a multi-media project can combine efforts to create a final product. They envision their initial market to be academia, but one could see the product stretching to fields such as law, where large litigation projects with high-level of collaboration on both document creation and media presentation; in business, where software aimed at product development has generally not lived up to its promises; and in the science and engineering fields, where multi-media collaboration is quickly becoming not only the norm, but a necessity.

For the popular consumer market, Superna, whose offices hosted our meeting, demonstrated their cost-saving vision for the Smart Home (SH). Current SH systems require a large, expensive server in order to coordinate all the electronic appliances in today’s air-conditioned, lit and entertainment-saturated house. Such coordinating servers can cost upwards of US$5,000, whereas Superna’s software can turn a US$1,000 hand-held tablet PC into household remote control.

There were a few start-ups where Vardi’s fatherly mentoring seemed more at play than long-term practical business modeling. In the hot market of WiFi products, WeFi is software that will allow groups of users, such as friends, share knowledge about the location of free Internet WiFi access, and also provide codes and keys for certain hot spots, with access provided only to the trusted users within a group. The mock-up that was shown to us had a Google Maps-esque city block that had green points to the known hot spots that are available either for free (such as those owned by good Samaritans who do not secure their WiFi access) or for pay, with access information provided for that location. I saw two long-term problems: first, WiMAX, which is able to provide Internet access to people for miles within its range. There is already discussion all over the Internet as to whether this technology will eventually make WiFi obsolete, negating the need to find “hot spots” for a group of friends. Taiwan is already testing an island-wide WiMAX project. The second problem is if good Samaritans are more easily located, instead of just happened-upon, how many will keep their WiFi access free? It has already become more difficult to find people willing to contribute to free Internet. Even in Tel Aviv, and elsewhere, I have come across several secure wireless users who named their network “Fuck Off” in an in-your-face message to freeloaders.

Another child of Vardi’s that the Brookings Institution might say was over-praised for self-esteem but lacking real accomplishment is AtlasCT, although reportedly Nokia offered to pay US$8.1 million for the software, which they turned down. It is again a map-based software that allows user-generated photographs to be uploaded to personalized street maps that they can share with friends, students, colleagues or whomever else wants to view a person’s slideshow from their vacation to Paris (“Dude, go to the icon over Boulevard Montmartre and you’ll see this girl I thought was hot outside the Hard Rock Cafe!”) Aside from the idea that many people probably have little interest in looking at the photo journey of someone they know (“You can see how I traced the steps of Jesus in the Galilee“), it is also easy to imagine Google coming out with its own freeware that would instantly trump this program. Although one can see an e-classroom in architecture employing such software to allow students to take a walking tour through Rome, its desirability may be limited.

Whether Vardi is a smart parent for his encouragement, or in fact propping up laggards, is something only time will tell him as he attempts to bring these products of his children to market. The look of awe that came across each company’s representative whenever he entered the room provided the answer to the question of Who’s your daddy?

Obama lessens US ban on offshore drilling

Thursday, April 1, 2010

US President Barack Obama has announced that he will ease the country’s ban on offshore oil drilling, which has been in place since the 1980s.

According to the plan, offshore drilling would now be allowed in parts of the Atlantic, from Delaware down to 125 miles beyond the shoreline of Florida, in the eastern Gulf of Mexico.

The move, however, does have some restrictions; drilling further northeast or along the West Coast is still prohibited. Contracts in Bristol Bay, Alaska were also suggested, but were scrapped due to environmental concerns.

The president remarked that he decided the move was needed to lessen the country’s need for additional energy, adding that he had studied the issue for over a year. “This is not a decision that I’ve made lightly,” he said.

“We’re announcing the expansion of offshore oil and gas exploration but in ways that balance the need to harness domestic energy resources and the need to protect America’s natural resources,” Obama continued, speaking at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland. “My administration will consider potential new areas for development in the mid and south Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico.”

“Drilling alone can’t come close to meeting our long-term energy needs, and for the sake of our planet and our energy independence, we need to begin the transition to cleaner fuels now. I know that we can come together to pass comprehensive energy and climate legislation that’s going to foster new energy — new industries, create millions of new jobs, protect our planet, and help us become more energy independent.”

Obama said that the plan was partially intended to garner support from Republicans in Congress for a climate-change bill to lower greenhouse gas emissions, which has been languishing for months due to lack of support from Republicans.

Some environmental groups, however, condemned Obama’s move. Phil Radford, who is with the Greenpeace group, said that “[e]xpanding offshore drilling in areas that have been protected for decades threatens our oceans and the coastal communities that depend on them with devastating oil spills, more pollution and climate change.” Greenpeace also said that lifting the ban fuelled the US’ “addiction to oil”.

Republican leader for the House of Representatives John Boehner, meanwhile, said he agreed with lifting the ban in the Atlantic, but remarked that it “makes no sense” not to have lifted it in other areas as well. “Opening up areas off the Virginia coast to offshore production is a positive step, but keeping much of the Pacific Coast and Alaska, as well as the most promising resources off the Gulf of Mexico, under lock and key makes no sense at a time when gasoline prices are rising and Americans are asking ‘Where are the jobs?'”, he said.

“Today’s announcement is a step in the right direction, but a small one that leaves enormous amounts of American energy off limits,” said the Senate Minority leader, Republican Mitch McConnell.

According to the US Minerals Management Service, the eastern Gulf of Mexico and parts of the Atlantic south and east of the continent could contain up to 5.8 billion barrels of oil and 40.5 trillion cubic feet of gas. The West Coast, meanwhile, which remains off limits for drilling, contains 10.5 billion barrels of oil with 18 trillion cubic feet of gas.

A Great Idea for College Students to Make Money Online

by

Anand

College students always need money for paying their fees and buying books. Of course they need money to hang out with their girl or boy friend. If you are a student and the money you get from your parents is less and looking for some extra money, you can continue to read this article. This article would give an idea to make money in your spare time.

Many students get very little money from their parents. Parents do not want to give more and spoil their kids. But the need of money is increasing every day to students. It is true that they are keen to do some job in spare time. I have seen many guys and girls washing cars and delivering pizza for little money. They may get little money with hard word. What if I could show you a cool job that pays you nice income?

Yes, I am talking about online surveys. Big companies conduct surveys to collect information about products and improve their products. This gives great opportunity for college students to make some extra money in their spare time.

This work does not need any hard work. No special skill is needed. You do not need to go to any office or work under any boss. These surveys are sent via email and you can take paid surveys at the comfort of your home. You can do it even in intervals of classes.

Students can attend many surveys at any time they want. College students use many electronics such as laptops, desktops, cell phones, iPods, games console and many more. This gives them good chance for sharing their opinion with many companies. Not only these electronics, many products like cool drinks, fast foods, shoes, shirts, cosmetics need surveys to improve their quality and face competition with other products. Therefore, online surveys are conducted and focused towards college students or school students.

I will explain how to take these surveys. You have to join many online surveys companies. You have to sign up with some basic details such as name, country, and gender and email id. They will send surveys through email to you. After receiving these, you have to answer some simple questions about a product or service. No need to worry, these are objective type questions, all you have to do is either check boxes or say yes or no. This may take from 10 minutes to 30 minutes depends on the product and the number of questions. After completing these surveys, you have to click and submit them. Your account will be credited with money or any reward they offer for that particular survey.

This is ideal for students who are looking for some extra money to pay off their exam or book fees. You can hang out with your girl or boy friend and have a nice time in weekends. If you join as many survey companies as possible, you can get more surveys and make money in spare time. To join many companies, first of all you should join a survey website which provides you a good list of these companies. There are many websites which provide such database with a little fee. You may check one such website

Google launches Google Spreadsheets

Tuesday, June 6, 2006

Google has launched an online spreadsheet site, in a private beta.

The site will allow spreadsheets to be shared between up to 10 users, which is aimed to be useful to teams and small businesses. “Many people already organise information into spreadsheets. Where they are struggling is to share it” said the product manager, Jonathan Rochelle.

Google recently bought the online word-processor Writely, launched a calendar product, as well as a desktop search tool. Many see this as them straying into Microsoft‘s markets.

Google Spreadsheets uses very advanced AJAX (Asynchronous Javascript And Xml) and Client Side Scripting to mimic very effectively it’s desktop counterparts’ functions.

It is surprisingly fast, has very good formatting and advanced formula support, but best of all it has complete support for Microsoft Excel .xls files, and very good collaboration: just enter the e-mail address and you can share easily.

Micro-loans to US poor from Bangladesh’s Grameen Bank

Sunday, February 17, 2008

Grameen Bank of Bangladesh has made the first loans to U.S. citizens who do not have a bank account. Grameen Bank is experienced in micro-financing in its home country, lending money to poor women that want to start small businesses.

Since the start of the mortgage-crisis more people in the U.S. tend to turn to fringe financial institutions bypassing the mainstream bank institutes. “Now is a good time because of … the subprime crisis and that highlights the issue that the financial system is not perfect,” , says the bank’s founder and 2006 Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus. Grameen Bank started in 1976 by lending a total amount of $27.00 to 42 Bangladesh women. To date the bank has made over $6.5 billion in loans to 7 million people in Bangladesh.

Grameen Bank’s first loans of approximately $50,000.00 in total in the U.S. was to a group of women in Jackson Heights, Queens, New York City. Garmeen Bank plans to offer $176 million in loans in New York City the next five years, and after that expanding into business as remittances and mortgages all over the U.S., as it has done in Bangladesh.

Luis Enrique wins 2015 FIFA World Coach of the Year

Thursday, January 14, 2016

On Monday, Luis Enrique won the 2015 FIFA World Coach of the Year in Zürich, Switzerland.

In his first year as manager of FC Barcelona, Enrique won five trophies, including the 2015 FIFA Club World Cup. The other finalists were Pep Guardiola, a former Barcelona coach and current manager of the German giants Bayern Munich, and Argentine Jorge Sampaoli, the coach of Chile’s national football team.

The staff, the president, the board, the fans and our players. This is an incredible dream team that has pushed us forward.

Guardiola led Bayern to the Bundesliga title and under Sampoli, Chile won their first ever-Copa América, defeating Argentina 4–1 on penalties. Enrique won La Liga, the Copa del Rey, the UEFA Champions League — just the second time the club has won that treble — the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup. Barcelona also defeated their arch-rivals Real Madrid 4–0 in November.

Barcelona technical secretary Robert Fernandez attended the ceremony and collected the award on behalf of Enrique, who did not attend the function. Fernandez said “It must have been a very difficult choice because the other candidates [are of] very, very high quality,”. He also added that Enrique wanted to share the award with all those people who “who have supported him in difficult times and good times. The staff, the president, the board, the fans and our players. This is an incredible dream team that has pushed us forward.”

Earlier in the ceremony, Jill Ellis, who coached the United States’s women’s football team to win the World Cup, was announced as the FIFA Football Women’s Coach of the year.

Home Improvement Loan}

Submitted by: Daniel Roshard

Home improvement loans are usually taken out for making a home larger or adding value to it. This may be done by adding rooms or bathrooms, building a swimming pool, enclosing a porch or patio, updating the plumbing and repainting the homes exterior and/or interior. Generally, it is cheaper to extend or repair a home than to buy or build a new house.

Before going ahead and getting a home improvement loan, it is advisable to contact your local builder and get a quote and any other information about the associated costs involved in improving your home. Dont be afraid to get as many quotes on building costs and home improvement loans as possible.

Make sure that when you speak to the lending institutions, ask if you can borrow money above the quoted price for the home improvement. Often, when building, extra costs seem to come out of the woodwork unexpectedly. It is better to borrow a few dollars extra and not need it, than have to contact the bank for an extension on your credit in the middle of a project.

The ideal home improvement loan to look for is one that has a low interest rate. Visit many different lending institutions and see what they are offering. Dont just commit yourself to the first home improvement loan that comes along. Home improvement loans are usually short- term loans.

A home improvement loans rate of interest is determined by the amount of collateral that the borrower has. This is most often the equity in your home. If the borrower has a bad credit rating, the home improvement loan will probably be calculated at a higher rate.

The rate of interest, loan amount offered to you by the bank and the term of the loan will often have a lot to do with the market value of the home or the value of the collateral. The lending institution will often ask what type of home improvement you are planning. A market appraisal may be needed before the loan is passed. This is often to ensure that the improvements will add value to the home. They may also ask you to provide quotes from builders or contractors that you may be using for the home improvements.

Home improvement loans usually require the borrower to only pay the interest while the home is being improved. Once the home improvements have been completed, the borrower will be required to make full monthly payments on the principle and interest. The monthly payments will be calculated on the amount of money used for the home improvements, the interest rates and the term or number of years you have to pay off the loan.

If you are unsure of any of the details and/or term of the home improvement loan, make sure that you discuss your concerns with the institutions lending consultant. A good lending institution will be very happy to address any questions or concerns that you may have. Make a list of anything you can think of to ask the loan officer you speak with.
