How Limo Service Has Become Quite A Common Option

By Cavier Dremes

Saloon cars or luxury sedans are also called limousines or more commonly limo . These cars are distinguished from other regular vehicles on the basis of its extremely lengthened body and also by the fact that a limousine is always driven by a chauffeur. A regular person cannot easily drive a limousine and this is why special training is given to chauffeurs to drive a limousine. These professional limousine drivers are then mostly hired by different limo service providers to work for them. In other cases the extremely rich classes who own their own limousines also hire these professional chauffeurs to work for them 24/7.

The stretched body of a limousine is achieved by two different ways. Most limo service providers buy a simple car and then have it lengthened by expert coach builders. At the same time there are a lot of other San Diego limo service providers who prefer having a real company manufactured high end original limousine which is then quite expensive to purchase and thus also quite expensive to rent. The packages and rates for renting a limousine through a limo service provider may vary. This mostly depends on the type of limo you are renting and the number of hours that you will have the limo rented for. Some San Diego service providers also add extra bill for the fuel that is consumed during the hour or hours for which you have hired the San Diego limo.

A limousine is considered to be the most expensive form of transport on ground. This is why limousine rides are always associated with factors such as power, wealth, and luxury. Limousines started off by the extremely wealthy and powerful people who made a bold statement everywhere they went by riding in their own chauffeur driven limousines. Now this trend has transcended into the general public through the introduction of San Diego limo service providers. Ever since these companies have started operating, having your exclusive chauffeur driven limo has become more and more affordable. Now not only the rich people ride in limousines but the everyday person is also enjoying this luxury ride through these limo service providers.

Hiring a limo is extremely popular in weddings these days. It has become quite common now for the bride and groom, to arrive at their wedding reception in a limousine. They also take off for their honeymoon in their own limo ride which is mostly a hired limo service. A San Diego limo can not only be spotted at wedding receptions but also at parties. Another rising trend among teenagers is to arrive at their party with their dates in a limo ride. Mostly a group of kids get together to contribute the money required for hiring a San Diego limo. Then collectively ride the limo to their party. Most senior kids even ride off after their parties with their dates to other places around the city to have more fun and enjoy themselves.

Likewise, San Diego limo services are also frequently hired for graduation and anniversary parties. But more than that, San Diego limo services are quite commonly utilized by businesses. Multinational companies are now finding San Diego limo services to be a lot more affordable for them. Their senior management has the option of arriving at their clients or business partner s place in class to make an impression. In other cases they have their lucrative clients picked up at airports or other such venues on limousines by hiring a San Diego limo.

Wikinews tours London Paralympic Village wheelchair repair workshop

London, England — Yesterday Wikinews had the opportunity to tour the Ottobrock wheelchair repair workshops at the Paralympic Village in London.

It is one of a network of workshops at every Paralympic venue. They are run by Ottobrock, which has been repairing wheelchairs at the Paralympics since 1988. The workshop opened on August 22 and will remain until September 10.

The Ottobrock employees include people from 20 countries. Between them, they speak 23 languages. They liken themselves to the pit crew of motor sport — except that they have no idea what sort of equipment they will have to work with. The store room contains 15,000 spare parts, with everything from spare carbon fibre running blades to spare tyres — over 2,000 of them. They stock Ottobrock parts and their competitors’ too, as they have no idea what will arrive at the workshop next. Athletes from around the world bring in all manner of equipment.

The prosthetic technicians have to deal with everything from flat tyres to broken spokes to full-scale rebuilds. They have to be expert problem solvers. They frequently collaborate on determining how best to effect a repair. The objective is to get the wheelchair repaired and back in service as soon as possible.

Wheelchairs vary somewhat in design, depending on the sport. Those for wheelchair basketball and rugby have cambered wheels so they can spin around. Aluminum and titanium parts are used for strength. Ottobrock has a welding workshop where frames are repaired; the teams’ equipment managers understandably cannot bring such heavy equipment with them to the games, so they rely on the workshops. When a repair job is required, it is often required in a hurry. At the Turkey vs United States game, a chair was repaired during the match.

In addition to wheelchairs, the workshops handle all manner of work with prostheses. Carbon fibre running blades are adjusted. Broken feet and legs are a challenge. The Chinese Boccia team brought in its power chairs to have the electronics adjusted. In that sport, having the controls working perfectly is all-important.

There are 4,200 athletes at the Paralympic games. So far, the workshops have carried out 1,100 repairs.

UBS sees net income jump 15 percent

Tuesday, May 3, 2005

Swiss banking giant UBS today reported better than expected first-quarter results – but warned investors that full year results could be hit by weaker investment banking revenues.

First-quarter net profit stood at 2.625bn Swiss francs (US$2.19bn; €1.7bn) up 15% from last year’s 2.28bn Swiss francs. Assets under management grew to 2.36 trillion Swiss francs (US$1.97 trillion; €1.53 trillion); an increase of 21.2bn Swiss francs on last year.

Despite the solid performance, CFO Clive Standish told the media “Clearly we have seen a slowing of the markets over the quarter, particularly in March… There is a perceptible slowdown in markets as we speak.”Reacting to the pessimism, UBS shares dropped 1.5%.

Commonwealth Bank of Australia CEO apologies for financial planning scandal

Thursday, July 3, 2014

Ian Narev, the CEO of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, this morning “unreservedly” apologised to clients who lost money in a scandal involving the bank’s financial planning services arm.

Last week, a Senate enquiry found financial advisers from the Commonwealth Bank had made high-risk investments of clients’ money without the clients’ permission, resulting in hundreds of millions of dollars lost. The Senate enquiry called for a Royal Commission into the bank, and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).

Mr Narev stated the bank’s performance in providing financial advice was “unacceptable”, and the bank was launching a scheme to compensate clients who lost money due to the planners’ actions.

In a statement Mr Narev said, “Poor advice provided by some of our advisers between 2003 and 2012 caused financial loss and distress and I am truly sorry for that. […] There have been changes in management, structure and culture. We have also invested in new systems, implemented new processes, enhanced adviser supervision and improved training.”

An investigation by Fairfax Media instigated the Senate inquiry into the Commonwealth Bank’s financial planning division and ASIC.

Whistleblower Jeff Morris, who reported the misconduct of the bank to ASIC six years ago, said in an article for The Sydney Morning Herald that neither the bank nor ASIC should be in control of the compensation program.

Freak wave rocks luxury liner–4 hurt

Sunday, April 17, 2005

The Norwegian Dawn, a 965-foot-long luxury vessel, was struck by “a freak wave that caused two windows to break in two different cabins,” the owners, Norwegian Cruise Line, said in a statement. It changed course, docking in Charleston late Saturday afternoon instead of completing its planned travel to New York.

The wave, estimated at 7-stories-high, flooded 62 cabins and injured 4 passengers with cuts and bruises. Company spokeswoman Susan Robison said the wave reached to deck 10.

The hull was damaged but the vessel was not in any trouble, according to the Coast Guard, and the safety of the ship “was in no way compromised by this incident.” Passengers were told to don their flotation jackets anyway.

The ship left New York last Sunday on a week-long round-trip cruise to and from the Bahamas.

NBA: LeBron James announces that he will join the Miami Heat

Friday, July 9, 2010

NBA small forward LeBron James announced today that he will “take his talents to South Beach and join the Miami Heat,” after spending six years as the star player for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Anticipation over LeBron’s future team had been simmering for weeks as NBA teams tried to lure the free agent to their rosters. LeBron had met with representatives from the Cavaliers, Heat, Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, New Jersey Nets, and Los Angeles Clippers.

In an interview televised by ESPN, James said that the Heat would give him “the best opportunity to win now and to win in the future also.” However, James admitted, “I can’t say it was always in my plans, because I never thought it was possible,” and that he had changed his mind repeatedly in the days leading up to the announcement. He emphasized, “It’s not about individuals. It’s about a team.” James also said in the interview that “the things that the Miami Heat franchise have done, to free up cap space and be able to put themselves in a position this summer to have all three of us, it was hard to turn down. Those are two great players (Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh), two of the greatest players that we have in this game today.”

Referring to his fans in Ohio, James said, “They can have mixed emotions, of course,” and that his hometown of Akron in the state will “always be home for me.”

Though Cleveland had offered James more money, to James and new teammates Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh, winning seemed to be more important. Both Wade and Bosh settled for less cash, instead fitting James into Miami’s salary cap space.

Wade had announced Wednesday that he would be continuing to play in Miami, while Bosh decided to move to Florida from the Toronto Raptors. The three were drafted in 2003 and were teammates in the 2008 US Olympic basketball team. Wade said that playing with James and Bosh was “going to be crazy,” while Bosh tweeted, “Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Fans in Miami honked horns outside the Heat’s home arena, while television images from Cleveland showed LeBron James’s jerseys being burned. Prior to the announcement, amid rumors that James would sign with the Heat, Heat season tickets had sold out.

Gunman killed outside Colorado governor’s office

Tuesday, July 17, 2007

A man identified as Aaron Richard Snyder showed up on Monday around 2:25 p.m. outside the Colorado Capitol offices of Governor Bill Ritter. He was carrying a 357-caliber 7 shot Smith and Wesson revolver with 20 extra rounds of ammunition and started screaming “I am the emperor” and “I am here to take over the state”.

When he was confronted by a Colorado State trooper, Snyder opened his jacket showing that he was carrying a gun. The trooper ordered Snyder to drop the gun, but instead he moved “menancingly” in the direction of the trooper who then shot him once in the head and twice in the chest.

Snyder died from the multiple gunshot wounds on the floor of the Capitol office building. The Capitol went on a full lockdown with employees, tour groups and visitors in the building at the time ordered to stay where they were.

Governor Ritter was interviewing a judge candidate in his office at the time of the shooting. He held a press conference on the Capitol step two hours later.

Mr. Snyder was under doctors care for delusional behavior. The Northglenn, Colorado police issued a BOL “Be On the Lookout” to all law enforcement agencies in Colorado for Snyder and his car, a 2004 black Kia, around 25 minutes before the shooting occurred.
